The 1920s-1930s was the age of liqueurs. It was the roaring twenties, a fun and liberated period where liqueurs were very popular as cocktail ingredients or after dinner digestives. A boom time for liqueur sales in Berrys’ shop.
We were asked to develop a series of liqueurs that would appeal to liquor shops, barmen and mixologists as their go-to ingredients for cocktails. Apothecary style bottles were chosen and, drawing inspiration from this era and Berrys’ rich heritage, a design route was developed around a medicinal theme. We commissioned a series of traditional botanical illustrations which adorned the labels, with period typography, aged paper and quirky anecdotes completing the presentation.
